Into the E-byss

The projection work Into the E-byss responds to the misrepresentation of White Ibises in biodiversity databases. The digital artwork considers the idea that representation of White Ibises in these databases comes from a human perspective, and often does not account for the authentic experience of the animal. Through processes of repetitive digital mediation, the white ibis is portrayed as an under-saturated, over-exposed, warped, and poorly rendered digital creature in this artwork. As these glitchy digital models rotate around the frame, the lacking ability for biodiversity databases to successfully capture and communicate the perspective of these creatures is highlighted.
