HUM(AN/US) delves into a moving continuum of humans with humus. Layering moving images and movements, memories of futures past and pasts present, the film gestures toward the cyclic nature of composting. The body is part of the composition that decomposes layers and loops. Inspired by Ana Mendieta’s EarthBody sculptures, the process involved embedding the body into underworld spaces to consider the multiplicity of different perspectives from experiences of lively microbes and sensitive earthworms.
